Is Roof Rejuvenation Worth It in Maine?
Short answerIt depends on the roof, not the state. Maine's freeze/thaw cycling and coastal exposure do drive the kind of shingle drying that rejuvenation targets, so qualifying roofs are common here — but the same climate also produces ice-dam and decking damage that rejuvenation cannot address.
What Maine weather does to a roof
Long winters with repeated thaw cycles push meltwater under shingle edges at the eaves. Summer UV loads the south-facing slopes. Coastal properties add salt-laden air and wind-driven rain. The result is a roof that often ages unevenly slope to slope.
The honest math
Rejuvenation is worth considering when the shingles are drying but the roof is otherwise doing its job, because the alternative spend is a full replacement. It is not worth considering when the assessment finds ice-dam damage at the eaves, soft decking, or shingles already cracking through.
