What the treatment is actually addressing

An asphalt shingle is a fiberglass or organic mat saturated with asphalt and surfaced with mineral granules. The asphalt is what makes the shingle flexible and weather-resistant. Over years of heat cycling and UV exposure, lighter components in that asphalt migrate out and the shingle becomes stiffer and more brittle.

Rejuvenation is aimed at that specific mechanism. It is a maintenance step for a roof that is aging but otherwise intact — not a way to bring a failed roof back into service.

What rejuvenation does not do

Being clear about the limits is more useful than overselling the treatment.

• It does not replace missing shingles.
• It does not stop an active leak.
• It does not repair or replace roof decking.
• It does not restore granules that have already washed away.
• It does not correct structural sagging or framing problems.
• It does not make an old roof new.

Which roofs are candidates

The short version: asphalt shingles that are drying out, on a roof that is still doing its job. Sound decking, no major active leaks, no widespread missing shingles, no severe field-wide curling.
